After A Family Game Reccomendation

My daughter (8) adores the Eyetoy but I'm starting to get a bit sick of it, can anybody recommend a game an 8 year old and a slightly older gamer could play together and I must be able to win.

Oh yeah it's for the PS2.

Considering she likes the eyetoy and it's semi-corny games, then I'm sure she'll love Katamri Damacy! I'm 16, and prefer the action and shoot 'em up games, and yet this game makes me want more and more. It's actually quite addicting, and definetly deserves it's "E" rating.

So there's my recomendation, I'm sure the youngster, and the slightly older will love playing it, especially together.

wow yeah, Katamari Damacy!!!
a 18 year old girl kept telling me how cool & fun it is so i tried and.... hell! I LOVE IT @@! i almost got addicted to it xD

"We love Katamari" is very cute as well, but unlike the original Katamari which is an adventure game, this sort of 'puzzle game' type.

hmmm.... and i like all Crash Bandicoot games.

err.... what else?? other than that i can only think of time consuming rpgs & bloody fighting/ shooting games at this moment

edit: ZOMG!! i almost forget!! you(or she) must really try "The Adventures of Cookie & Cream"! the game is sorta UNCOMMON (freakish... or abnormal) but its really cute & lovely

Get her DDR... :P

Ok, maybe you wouldn't win at it, but the picture of you vs. your daughter playing DDR is enough for me to suggest it.

At eight there isn't a lot I know of. I would generally go for the arcade classics like tetris (there are some new versions of tetris with their own twists). One of the best family games is The Sims, but the PS2 version isn't very good even though it has a vs. and I don't think an 8-yr-old would really enjoy it.

Everything else I'd suggest (like Spyro) are single player.

Gwen does have a point there, DDR is a great game.. Wether you win or not, you're both getting off of that couch (or computer chair in your case Al ) and getting tons of excersize and on top of that you're dancing and having a blast!

I would recomend getting Katamari and DDR, DDR Max I and II are good, but I think DDR Extreme is much better because it includes all of the little side games that are avtually very competitive and you I'm sure will be able to win a few

If you want a bit of simultaneous multiplayer for an 8-year old you could give the Shrek 2 game a try. The little 'un can enjoy collecting the coins whilst you beat up all the enemies.

You get to play as all the Shrek characters, which I'm sure an 8 year old will love, and since the games quite old now you should be able to pick it up for a bargain price (though I guess you might have trouble tracking down a copy!)

I was thinking eBay, there must be a tonne of unwanted XMas presents. Do you get many copied/rip off games on eBay?

Games I never have a problem with - they've all been new or as near as possible, with the exception of one disk from the Sims that was bootleg. Since it was part of a large set of games, I turned a blind eye to it. It wasn't from an ebay store, though, and they are usually more reliable.
